I love a decadent treat as much as anyone else, but I also know that I cannot eat treats every day. Monday through Friday, I attempt to eat very clean and stick to my exercise schedule. I’m not a dietician or a personal trainer, but I have lost 60 pounds and have kept it off for a couple of years. Below you will find my favorite smoothie recipe that I have four mornings of each week.

This strawberry and banana smoothie is not only packed with nutrition but also tastes great! I used to go to my local smoothie shop for a smoothie like this until I found that they were packed with calories and more expensive than making at home.
Start by gathering up your ingredients. You will need frozen bananas cut in half, my favorite frozen berry blend, (which even has kale in for an extra bonus- don’t be scared you cannot taste it) Greek yogurt, (I prefer 0% for this smoothie) and liquid stevia (my favorite is from Trader Joe’s). These are the ingredients that you’ll need for a great taste. I occasionally add Chia seeds and matcha powder as a bonus, but that is optional.
A high-powered blender is crucial for blending ingredients like ice and frozen bananas. One of my favorite kitchen tools is a Vita-Mix blender. Before I purchased my Vita-Mix, my end product would contain little chunks of ice. Once you get a Vita-Mix, you’ll never go back. You can even make hot soups in this incredible machine.
I like to add softer ingredients like Greek yogurt on the bottom of the blender. This is my favorite brand of Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is nice and thick and very creamy (plus has lots of protein to help with your workout and/or diet).
Frozen berries will be your friend because you can always have them on hand without spoilage after a few days. I love how they also include kale in this mix so I can easily get one more green serving in during the day! For the best taste, make sure you have a good amount of frozen strawberries in the mix (or add some additional strawberries from another bag).
My favorite way to use bananas for smoothies is to cut them in half, place them on a sheet tray, cover, and freeze them. Once the bananas are frozen, you can place them in a storage bag. This is a great solution for using up those bananas that have gotten too ripe (and bonus–the ripe bananas will make your smoothie taste sweeter).
I add a cup of water to get the consistency of the smoothie right.
Chia seeds seem to be the new superfood today, so I like to include them for added fiber, protein, iron and calcium (this is optional). I will also incorporate PB Powder sometimes for a delish PB&J smoothie. The peanut butter powder is a great alternative for those watching calories and fat but who still want the indulgence of peanut butter. You can also add water to this powder if you ever want the taste of peanut butter for anything else like apples for a healthy, guilt free snack- yum! PB Fit has many great products like chocolate peanut butter powder, and they also ship for free- bonus (click on the image below to check them out)!
Time to blend it all up!
Enjoy your healthy smoothie and rest assured that you’ve started your day off on the right track!

Any smoothie that has Greek yogurt in it is my jam. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I love Greek yogurt too! It tastes so good and no added sugar.
Bananas are my favorite smoothie base because they provide all the creaminess you’d expect from a milkshake without the guilt! Great morning breakfast recipe!
Me too! I like using really ripe bananas for extra sweetness as well.
YUMMY! Chia seeds and bananas are my faves to put into a smoothie. I love fage yogurt specifically, too. So good for breakfast.
Thanks, this is my favorite way to start the day.
Oh this looks so perfect for breakfast! Love how healthy it is.
Thanks! It’s important for the recipe to be healthy and yummy. This helps me stay on track during the week.
I try to have a smoothie every morning. This recipe looks delicious! I’m going to try it soon.
Great, let me know how you like it!
I like this recipe. Greek yogurt makes it nice and creamy. I had never seen a frozen fruit mix with Kale. I’ll try it with the munchkin next time I make a smoothie. She is such a picky eater. I have to try and get fruits in her diet however I can.
Thanks! Kids will not taste the greens in this smoothie. This is a great way to get an extra serving of veggies. You can also add spinach to smoothies!
Sounds like such a yummy smoothie! I try to eat healthy and workout during the week too and then I treat myself a bit on the weekends. It’s all about balance, right!?
Yes!! If I didn’t treat myself on the weekend I would burn out.
Oh looks good! I need to add that to my morning breakfasts!
You will feel great if you start your day this way!
Your strawberry banana smoothie looks so delicious. I love that clean eating is so important to you because it’s something I am adamant about, too. I like the natural ingredients you used such as the fresh fruit, greek yogurt, stevia, and chia seeds. This is a superfood smoothie, and you should feel like a powerhouse after drinking this!
Thanks! This smoothie gives me the energy to keep up with two energetic boys!
Good tip on how to freeze the bananas! I have a Vitamix and make smoothies often. I also like to add some ground flax seed and Collagen powder.
Thanks! I find that the bananas ripen very quickly. This is a nice way to use them up.
That smoothie looks so good. I love Wyman’s frozen fruit. I’ve never had a bad batch as I have with store brands. It’s great for smoothies and even just to jazz up plain yogurt.
Thanks! I really enjoy this smoothie for breakfast! It tastes great and I feel good about the healthy choice that I’ve made.
I also love to make my own smoothie, and strawberry-banana combination is one of my favorite. I like the idea of adding some chia seeds and PB powder to make it more healthier. Will consider it for my next smoothie. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! The super foods in this smoothie will make you feel great!
So you had this every morning and lost weight? I love smoothies and I should start doing these for dinner for real….
I have this many mornings and it has helped along with exercise and a balanced diet.
